Jewel Castro
Co-Chair Jewel Castro, Women and Youth Prevention Specialist at Kumukahi Health + Wellness. Retired Hawai’i State Department of Education Teacher. Jewel served as the Drug-Free Schools Coordinator at Honoka’a High and Intermediate, and at Pahoa High and Intermediate. Graduated from UH Manoa with a degree in Education. Graduate of Waiakea High School. Born and Raised on Hawai’i Island. Community contributor in creating a resilient and thriving Hawai’i Island community for our Island ‘ohana and keiki. |
Raquel Gali
Co-Chair Raquel Gali works for The Salvation Army- Family Intervention Services as the Program Manager of Prevention/Outreach Program services. She is also the Board Advisor for the East Hawai'i HI H.O.P.E.S. Youth Leadership Board. She has worked in the prevention field for over 16 years. Studied at UH Hilo earning a degree in Administration of Justice. She also has a certificate in substance abuse counseling. Born and raised here on the Big Island and grateful to serve East Hawai'i. |
Kerinne Smith
Secretary Kerinne Smith has been a public school educator for the past 36 years. Currently, she is a Complex Area Resource Teacher for the Kaʻu-Keaʻau-Pāhoa Schools. She feels strongly about the importance of supporting overall health and wellness in the community. She believes that when we are at our best, physically, mentally, and spiritually, there are no limits to how much we can accomplish. And when we do it all together, we are building a foundation for a thriving community. |
