meet THE TEAM
sally ancheta, coordinatorFor more than 20 years, Sally has been been active in leading efforts to reduce addiction and substance misuse on Hawai'i Island. From 2002-2010, she was the Hawaiʻi Island Coordinator for the American Lung Association of Hawaiʻi and brings a wealth of experience in tobacco prevention and control, as well as health education. From 2010-2022, she coordinated and led the Hawai'i Island Tobacco-Free Coalition, a program of the Hawaiʻi Public Health Institute (HIPHI). She spearheaded the Raise the Age to 21 campaign, which raised the age of sale of all tobacco and vape products to age 21, in Hawaiʻi County. In 2015, she became co-coordinator for HIPHI's Healthy Eating+Active Living programs and is an active member of the Mayor's Active Living Advisory Council and on the Executive Board of Hilo Bayfront Trails. In March 2022, Sally moved from being a member of East Hawaiʻi Drug-Free Coalition to leading our efforts as the Coordinator. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and has lived in East Hawaiʻi for over 35 years.

rick collins, directorRick joined the Hawaiʻi Public Health Institute in 2018 and currently serves as the Director for the Maui Coalition for Drug-Free Youth, the East Hawaiʻi Drug-Free Coalition, and the Hawaiʻi Alcohol Policy Alliance. His experience includes building new community coalitions and implementing community-level policy strategies to reduce the harms of substance use. He is a Certified Prevention Specialist and holds an Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. He and his family love to travel and like to do home exchanges when they travel.

camlyn pola, vice chairCamlyn Pola, is a dedicated entrepreneur, wife, mother, and proud grandmother with a rich background in interior and kitchen and bath design. Her passion for creativity and functionality has allowed her to transform spaces, making homes not only beautiful but practical for everyday living.
Beyond her career, Camlyn has a deep commitment to her community. As a survivor of a drunk driving accident, she understands firsthand the devastating effects of impaired driving. This life-changing experience ignited her dedication to advocating for a safer future, particularly for young people. She actively volunteers with the East Hawaiʻi Drug Free Coalition, sharing her story in hopes of saving lives and preventing tragedies among teenagers. With a strong sense of purpose in both her professional and personal life, Camlyn is driven by a desire to make a positive impact, whether through her design work or her community outreach efforts. |
